The Parable of the Heavenly Wedding Banquet
Entering the Kingdom of Heaven is the goal and hope for so many Christians around the world. The Bible describes this as a very joyful event. Thus, Jesus Christ compared the promise of salvation to the joyous event of attending a wedding in His parable about the heavenly wedding banquet.
Matthew 22:1-10 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come… “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.”
As we can see, in this parable Jesus likened hearing the gospel to receiving an invitation to a wedding banquet. Furthermore, the acceptance of the invitation was likened to entering the kingdom of heaven. Why did Jesus Christ compare entering the Kingdom of Heaven to a Wedding banquet? To fully understand, we must consider the main components of a wedding banquet.
The 3 Main Figures in the Heavenly Wedding Banquet
What is it that makes a wedding banquet possible? For there to be a wedding banquet there should be a bridegroom, a bride and guests. However, in the parable the bridegroom, who is the King’s son appears, and the guests appear, but there is no bride. If there is no bride, then can the wedding banquet really take place? Can the event properly be called a wedding at all? All 3 main components of the wedding must be present and must have some prophetic significance in the parable that Jesus spoke.
Christ is the Bridegroom, and We are the Invited Guests
Mark 2:18-20 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?” Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.
When questioned about fasting, Jesus compared Himself to the bridegroom, and His disciples to invited guests. But just like in the parable, there was no mention of the bride. This is because the bride did not appear 2000 years ago at Jesus’ first coming. Why is that? Brides usually appear last in a wedding procession, after the bridegroom and guests. In the same way, the bride appears at the end of God’s 6,000-year redemption work, during the Second Coming of Christ to this earth.
The Identity of the Bride in the Heavenly Wedding Banquet is Our Mother
The Apostle John saw the happy scene when the saints of God were rejoicing at the appearance of the Bride.
Revelation 19:7-9 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
What is taking place, that we should rejoice in? It is the wedding of the Lamb! The Lamb refers to Jesus who appears again in the last days. It further explains that the invited guests are the blessed people of God. Who finally appears alongside the Lamb, the bridegroom? The bride of the Lamb appears. Then who is the Lamb’s bride, who appears in the last days?
Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
When the angel appeared to Apostle John to show him the bride of the Lamb, what did he show him? The angel showed him the Holy City Jerusalem. Was this the Earthly Jerusalem? No, it was coming down out of Heaven from God. Then the bride, the wife of the Lamb is the Heavenly Jerusalem. Therefore, what kind of relationship do the saints have with the Heavenly Jerusalem?
Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother
Who is the heavenly Jerusalem? The Bible says that she is our Mother. The Heavenly Jerusalem is the bride of the Lamb. Who is the Lamb in the Bible? The Lamb represents Jesus, who is God the Father in very nature. Therefore, if our Father has a wife, who is she to us? She is our Mother.
The Heavenly Wedding Banquet is Where We Receive the Water of Life
The Bible has already prophesized the appearance of God the Father and God the Mother who would appear together in the last days to give us the free gift of the water of life.
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life
The Spirit and the Bride offer the free gift of the water of life. In the earlier chapters of Revelation, the Lamb and his Bride appear in the last days. So, we can understand these two are the same prophecy about our Heavenly Father and Mother. They are calling us “Come! Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” In other words, They are inviting us to the heavenly wedding banquet. God the Father and God the Mother appear in the last days to give us this water of life, which is eternal life. This is why Revelation 19 says “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” To receive this blessing that we have so eagerly hoped for, we must go to the Spirit and the Bride. In other words, to receive the promised eternal life we must believe in Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, who appear together in the last days.
How the Bride Will Be Revealed
Jesus taught us that the Scriptures were given to testify about Him. The Bible contains many prophecies that allow us to recognize the Savior when He appears on earth in the flesh. This is how we can recognize and come to the bridegroom. But how can we recognize and come to the bride, who is our Heavenly Mother? Through several prophecies, the Bible explains that our Heavenly Father Himself will establish her.
God the Father Jehovah Will Establish Jerusalem
Isaiah 62:6-7 I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.
Who is speaking in this scripture? It is God the Father Jehovah. In other words, God the Father Himself will establish Jerusalem. Just as a bridegroom is the only one who can unveil his bride during a wedding procession, our Heavenly Father will establish and reveal our Mother to us when He comes a second time. The Bible testifies about Christ, the bridegroom, and then He testifies about His bride. In other words, Heavenly Mother is not established by coincidence, personality, looks, or human decision. The Bible prophesized that only Heavenly Father himself established Heavenly Mother. This is God’s will that was made known since the beginning, even from Genesis.
Adam Established Eve as His Wife
Genesis 2:23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.
Adam declared Eve to be his wife. How did Adam describe his wife? He called her bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. In Romans 5:14, Paul wrote that Adam represents the one to come, Christ. Therefore, Eve, the wife of Adam, must represent the wife of Christ, who is our heavenly Mother. This prophetic scene illustrates just as Adam testified about Eve, our Heavenly Father will testify about Heavenly Mother in the last days. Why must He do so? In order to understand this, we need to consider Eve’s important role and function.
Genesis 3:20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
What did Adam name his wife? He named her Eve, which means living. Adam represents our Heavenly Father and so this prophecy as well shows us that our Father will let us know who our Heavenly Mother is; the one who will give us eternal life in the last days. This is why the saints are rejoicing at Her appearance in Revelation 19; because through Her, the long-awaited promise of eternal life can finally be fulfilled, and the heavenly wedding banquet can begin at last.
Second Coming Christ Has Come Revealed Our Mother, the Bride of the Heavenly Wedding Banquet
In fulfillment of the aforementioned Biblical prophecies, Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong, our Heavenly Father has come in the flesh in these last days, and He has testified to the identity of our Heavenly Mother. He has taught us that we can receive eternal life only through Mother. The hope and dream of salvation is available and possible only through our Heavenly Mother. Therefore, let us be the ones who are blessed and invited to the heavenly wedding banquet by believing in our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, and receive eternal life and salvation.
