Woman’s Veil

Regulations for Worship

Where is a woman’s veil worn aside from wedding ceremonies? There is a correlation between the veil worn in a wedding and the regulations for worship. In the Bible, God specifies the day of worship through the Ten Commandments. Similarly, God also specifies the regulations for worship. We can see this through the parable of the wedding banquet.

Matthew 22:2-14 (NLT) “The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son …But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn’t wearing the proper clothes for a wedding. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?’ But the man had no reply. Then the king said to his aides, ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”

In this parable, Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a wedding banquet. Just as there are proper “wedding clothes” for a wedding, there are also proper clothes to enter the kingdom of heaven. In other words, there are certain regulations we must follow when we worship God so that our worship may be acceptable to God.

The Veil Is a Commandment of God

The women in the Church of God wear veils during worship and the men do not cover their heads. This practice is based on the biblical teaching Apostle Paul passed on to the Early Church from Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1 “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”

Apostle Paul taught the members of the Early Church that women should cover their heads during worship and men should not cover their heads.

1 Corinthians 11:4-5 (NLT) “A man dishonors his head if he covers his head while praying or prophesying. But a woman dishonors her head if she prays or prophesies without a covering on her head.”

These are the regulations God provided so that we may honor God while we worship Him. A man honors God by not covering his head and a woman honors God by covering her head. This is the natural order of things (1 Corinthians 11:14-15). A man glorifies God in His image by not covering his head. A woman expresses her beauty in body and soul before God by covering her head with a veil. It is only the World Mission Society Church of God that follows this regulation.
