The Hidden Manna and the Second Coming Christ

May 24, 2022

The Hidden Manna is a definite sign of Christ when He comes to the earth. Although God came in the flesh 2,000 years ago bearing the name of Jesus Christ, many people failed to recognize Him because they anticipated miraculous signs and wonders as the evidence to see the divinity of Christ. They did not realize the significance of the Hidden Manna that Jesus was trying to share with them. As a result, their faith in Christ stumbled and they did not receive His salvation in the end. The situation repeats itself in this age. Christians anticipate to recognize Christ through miraculous signs because they are ignorant of the Bible prophecies concerning the Hidden Manna, which is the sign to know the Second Coming Christ.

Jesus Promised to Give us the Hidden Manna

When Jesus appeared to Apostle John by Revelation on the island of Patmos, He promised to give us the Hidden Manna.

Revelation 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna…

To recognize the Second Coming Christ who appears in our time, we must understand the meaning of the Hidden Manna. It is the definitive sign of Jesus, which He promised to give us when He returns to this earth. Let us find out the significance of the manna and why Jesus called it “hidden.”

The Origin of Manna

The term manna originates from the time of Moses. After the Israelites were released from slavery in Egypt, they ran out of food after one month of their desert journey. The people became impatient, and grumbled against God and Moses. At this time, God promised to feed His people with manna.

Exodus 16:4, 31 Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions… The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.

This is the origin of manna. It was the bread from heaven that God rained down on His people so they could survive the 40-year long desert journey to Canaan. God continued to give the Israelites the manna for the remainder of their time in the wilderness, up until the day the entered Canaan (Jos 5:12). As such, the manna was a significant part of Israel’s history and an undeniable proof of God’s power to save His people.

Jesus Promised to Give the True Manna

When Jesus was preaching the gospel by the Sea of Tiberius, He fed 5,000 people with a few barley loaves and two fish. The people who witnessed this miracle were amazed and continued to follow Jesus to the other side of the lake. They wanted to see if Jesus could give them manna, just as God Jehovah had given their ancestors in the desert. They believed that if Jesus could provide manna as God Jehovah had done for their ancestors in the past, they could receive Him as the Christ. However, Jesus promised to give something better; the reality of the manna that gives eternal life.

John 6:30-31, 35 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat”… Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Jesus declared Himself to the be the true bread from heaven, that is, the reality of the manna that the Israelites ate in the desert in the time of Moses. Jesus explained that while the manna came from heaven, all the Israelites who ate of it all died eventually. Jesus was trying to enlighten them to something better; the true manna that gives human beings eternal life. Jesus continued to explain that it was His own flesh.

John 6:49-51 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world”

Jesus explained that the reality of the manna was His flesh and blood, which we must eat to live forever (John 6:54). The Israelites entering Canaan after eating the original manna in the desert for 40 years was only a shadow. Now, we can enter the spiritual Canaan, the Kingdom of Heaven, by eating the flesh and blood of Jesus, which is the true manna. But after giving this teaching, many of Jesus’ disciples turned back and no longer followed Him (John 6:60, 66). Since they did not realize the importance of the true manna, they failed to receive Christ and eternal life.

The Passover is the Way to Eat Jesus’ Flesh, the True Manna

The Jews did not realize that Jesus was referring to the Passover that He would celebrate with His disciples the night before His crucifixion. During the feast, Jesus said the Passover bread and wine were His flesh and blood.

Matthew 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

The Passover new covenant is the way Jesus allowed human beings to eat His flesh and blood, making it the true bread from heaven, which we may eat and live forever. In other words, the Passover is the true manna Jesus was referring to in both the Gospel of John and in Revelation. It is the bread from heaven we must eat to have eternal life and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Manna Becomes Hidden: Passover Abolished at the Council of Nicaea

The Passover is the reality of the manna. Then, why did Jesus refer to it as the “hidden manna” when He spoke to Apostle John in the Revelation? It was because Jesus already knew the Passover would be abolished at the Council of Nicaea, so no one would be able to keep it anymore. This happened in fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy.

Daniel 7:25  He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws…

As prophesied, the Passover, which is a set time and law of God, was changed and abolished at the Council of Nicaea in AD325. From this time on, the Passover was not celebrated for hundreds of years, and the true manna that Jesus gave to humankind became hidden.

Second Coming Christ Brings the Passover, the Hidden Manna

Referring back to Revelation 2:17, Jesus clearly told us He would bring the Hidden Manna. Through the teachings of Christ recorded during His first coming, it is clear that the Hidden Manna refers to the Passover new covenant that was abolished in the 4th Century AD. By promising to give us the Hidden Manna, Jesus was explaining that He would restore the Passover when He comes to the earth again. Whoever restores the Passover is the One giving us the Hidden Manna, and therefore must be Second Coming Christ. Who restored the Passover that was lost for over 1,600 years? Who gave us the Hidden Manna? It was Christ Ahnsahnghong. The Bible says Jesus would give us the Hidden Manna, not anyone else. Since Christ Ahnsahnghong gave it to us, He is definitely Jesus who came a second time.

Recognize God Who Gives the Hidden Manna of Eternal Life

When people were curious about the divine identity of Jesus, they requested to see a great miracle. Jesus did not satisfy their expectation, rather He replied with the truth of the manna; eating His flesh and blood contained in the Passover. It is the same in this age. As people wonder about who Christ Ahnsahnghong is in very nature, they become curious to know if He ever performed any miraculous signs or wonders. Instead, He has given us the Passover, which is the truth of the Hidden Manna. The Bible repeatedly testifies that God will swallow up death forever through the truth of the Passover (Is 25:6-9) Let us believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong as our God who gave us the hidden manna according to the Biblical testimonies. And let us keep the Passover of the new covenant so we can enter the kingdom of heaven.
